This year, Jakarta Dessert Week (JDW) is back. With the theme of ‘art’, JDW 2021 will take place from October 25 to November 14, 2021. This event also collaborates with Tokopedia as a partner to provide a special JDW page that contains choices of dessert and pastry menus .
“Tokopedia notes that the Food and Beverage category is one of the most popular categories in the third quarter of 2021. This very high interest is the reason for the presence of Jakarta Dessert Week at Tokopedia,” said External Communications Senior Lead Tokopedia Ekhel Chandra Wijaya.
In its implementation this time, JDW was named as part of the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2021 by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia.
JDW’s being crowned in the Kharisma Event Nusantara 2021 is not without reason. This is due to the positive impact that JDW has had in its implementation in the last two years. This positive impact can be seen from JDW’s contribution to the culinary sector and its success in building the image of Jakarta as a culinary melting pot and culinary hub .
KEN 2021 is a creative tourism event held to encourage the rise of the creative economy in Indonesia. Through KEN, the government hopes to help accelerate the national economy which has been slumped by the COVID-19 pandemic.
JDW being named in Kharisma Event Nusantara is good news because the government through the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is very selective in choosing events. KEN begins with a strict curation process, and every curation carried out aims to screen, and get quality events.
In addition, JDW, which has entered its third year of implementation, aims to support the dessert and pastry sector ecosystem in Jakarta by providing creative space for business actors.
As many as 68 online/offline-based cake shops/restaurants have been selected to present products from the cake, bread, cookies, ice cream and gelato categories . In this event, ‘kitchen artists’ or business actors in the dessert and pastry sector are also required to be creative in displaying a product that is made on a limited basis.
From the consumer side, the presence of desserts and pastries that are made in limited quantities will cause various reactions. Reactions such as curiosity, the emergence of conversation, to the increased passion for shopping is inevitable.
Moreover, JDW and Tokopedia also provide education through the Tokopedia Play streaming video channel with various guest stars such as Renatta Moeloek, Yuda Bastara, Devina Hermawan, and others.

“Hopefully, the collaboration between Tokopedia and Jakarta Dessert Week can encourage local SME products, food and beverages, to become the main choice for Indonesian people so that they can #BangkitBersama help economic recovery affected by the pandemic,” continued Ekhel.
