Shell Pays Attention to the Market Provides SPKLU for Electric Cars

Shell Pays Attention to the Market Provides SPKLU for Electric Cars , Shell Indonesia has launched a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station ( SPKLU ), the first Shell Recharge located at Pacific Place Jakarta, Thursday (19/1/2023). The presence of Shell Recharge adds to Shell’s SPKLU which previously existed in three locations.

SPKLU Shell is located at the South Pluit gas station, Antarasi gas station, and KM21 Jagorawi gas station. That way, Shell Recharge EV Self-Service Valet is the first service to be offered outside of gas station locations.

However, what’s interesting here is the difference in charging rates offered. At Shell gas stations, the charging rate for electric cars per 30 minutes is IDR 85,000 by bundling to buy Shell Deli2go.

Meanwhile, at the EV Self-Service Valet, a rate of Rp. 35,000 per hour is attached, excluding parking fees.

“There is a difference between SPKLU Shell at gas stations and at public facilities. One of the differences is the tariff charged to the customer. So we see that the time spent by customers at gas stations and public facilities is different,” said Dian Kusumadewi, VP Marketing Shell Mobility in Jakarta, Thursday (19/1/2023).

Dian said that her party had conducted research before launching the charging station. Thus, it can estimate the cost of tariffs that will be set.

SPKLU Shell at Pacific Place Jakarta has three engines that can be used for six electric cars. In terms of engine specifications are different.

Shell provides Type 2 AC fast charging with specifications of 11 kWh per nozzle at P2 Lot J13-J16 Pacific Place Jakarta, with operating hours from 10.00-22.00 WIB every day. Meanwhile, Shell gas stations provide fast charging with specifications of 50 kWh, with operating hours following gas station operating hours.

“We consider it from customer behavior , so we are the league of customers who come to the mall not looking for speed in charging. However, as a top up as well as activities. It’s clearly different from petrol stations, which need to be fast,” he said.

Being the first to choose a location for a public facility, Shell itself did not reveal how many SPKLUs would be opened throughout 2023. They could have opened SPKLUs in places other than malls, such as offices or housing that is full of people.

“For our own targets, we will continue to observe and observe market developments and also existing government policies. So we still can’t mention numbers, our position is still observing the market,” he said.
